Tell your tanning technician if you have never used a product containing DHA (commonly found in sunless tanners). If you are unsure if you are allergic to DHA, ask for a patch test.

Before tanning, take a shower and exfoliate. Use a shower puff, exfoliating glove, or washcloth to rub off the dead skin. Spend extra time on knees, elbows, feet and hands.

Shave and/or wax at least 12-24 hours before your spray tan.

Do NOT apply moisturizers, deodorants, antiperspirants, oils, or make-up to your skin after you shower as they can create a barrier, preventing the absorption of the tanning solution and effecting the tan development.

Wear a dark snug fitting bathing suit (or garment of preference) to tan in. The solution washes out of most clothing very easily, but tends to stain light nylon and other synthetic materials.

Remove contact lenses, eye glasses and jewelry.

Wear dark, loose clothing and loose shoes to your appointment. Do not wear white clothing or tight jeans. Do not wear wool, lycra, spandex, nylon or silk during or after your spray tan application as those materials may stain.
Avoid contact with water for the first 2 hours and wait at least 8 hours before showering or exercising. The tan will process and darken during this time.

Be careful not to sit directly on leather or light fabric seats or furniture after your spray tan.

Pat your skin dry after showering.

After showering, apply moisturizer. Hydrating skin maintains the tan longer. Avoid lotions
containing Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA's) as these may cause exfoliation. Moisturize twice a day, after bathing and again before bed.

Avoid products designed to exfoliate your skin.

If you wear perfume, put it on your clothes and NOT on your skin. The alcohol in perfume will exfoliate your skin and could lead to blotchiness.

An Envious Bronze tan does not protect the skin from sunburns and UV damage.
Always wear sunscreen.
